Last week, we in West Waterford lost one of our most talented lady members. Jenny Sweeney, a stalwart of the club since its beginning 18 years ago, had graced the fairways with her stylish appearance and had recorded outstanding scores from the very early days of her golfing career.

A winner of the coveted Captain’s Prize on no fewer than three occasions, her presence on the podium was always an entertaining affair. Jenny was never at a loss for an appropriate word when delivering her many acceptance speeches.

As a team member she inspired others with her renowned competitive streak. This will to win won many a tight match for West Waterford. For Jenny the match was never over till the last Putt.

She will be sadly missed.
