Golf Trip to Portugal
A Large group of member's headed to sunny Vilamoure, for some sun, golf and craic. The bus collected them at 2am on Monday 1st October for an early flight to Faro with everyone in high spirits. After a safe journey to Vilamoura, they took up residence for the week in the beautiful Vila Gale Ampaluis Hotel. The hotel is situated close to the beautiful marina and a short stroll to many restaurants and pubs.
After settling in, the next day they headed off for the first of three rounds booked, at Pinhal, Quinto do Largo South and Millennium GC's. Lots of good golf was played and great craic was had by all in lovely warm weather.
Then as evening fell, the member's strolled to the marina with it many lovely restaurants for some good food, with plenty chat and craic into the wee small hours. The time flew by and the members are home safely after a great week, needing a little rest to get over it all !!!

Congratulations to Mary French on the winning the Club Singles Match Play 2012, following a hard earned victory over Mary Donnelly.  Mary has come through a tough run of matches and true to her form held off a tough challenge from Mary Donnelly in the final to claim her win.

Golfer of the Year 2012 goes to Geraldine Hickey
Following a great round of golf in the final qualifying competition for GOY, Geraldine Hickey clinched the top spot. Carding a great score of 71 nett to add to previous qualifying rounds, that also included a 70 nett, she is now crowned GOY for 2012. Geraldine has had a very good year and regularly features in prize giving's and it is no surprise that she has won this competition. She is a member of the present committee and a regularly player supporting all competitions and fully deserves her victory. Congratulations Geraldine and enjoy the moment!
