Comeragh Oil Winter League

The top 16 match play round of the winter league is now underway with 33 matches already decided. However many teams are delaying the inevitable in an effort to test the lie of the land. With three teams from the rebel county still in contention it will come as no surprise if the trophy crosses the Youghal Bridge this year. The parings have thrown up many intriguing contest with last years defending champions Clashmore taking on the top qualifiers the spring in a contest that is destined to go to the wire.

Abbeyside have made it to the play offs for the first time in a number of years and Justin will have his charges finely tuned for the clash with Clashmore. Grange and Carriglea both made a late surge in round 4 and another epic encounter is guaranteed here. 3^rd place Geraldines led by our rising star Gary Hurley will face a tough test from the seasoned campaigners of Affane. Carrigtwohill topped the round 4-scoring table and will prove to be stern opposition for an experienced Nire team.

Tactics will come to the fore as Bertie and Tommy captain Kinsalebeg and Dungarvan in what is bound to be another close encounter. Killeagh have always figured in the later stages of the league and this time they face an in form Glenbeg team spearheaded by the Murphy brothers. Old Boro who finished 8^th will take on Cappoquin 9^th, and again this one could go down to the final match. Despite having two teams in the league this year the Brickeys are not represented in the playoffs. Perhaps someone can inform me of the last time this happened! On a brighter note, the Spratt family represented by the senior members could still have a say in the destination of the Comeragh Oil trophy.  Team captains are reminded that all top 16 matches must be completed by Sunday next March 14^th.  Don’t forget the tiebreakers where required. The Open draw for the quarter finals takes place in the clubhouse at 7pm on Sunday 14^th March.

One of the highlights of our golfing Calendar resumes on Wednesday April 14^th and will continue each Wednesday with the grand final on Sunday October 7th 2010

The Sunshine Classic

With Easter weekend fast approaching bookings for the Sunshine Classic are increasing daily. Make sure you get your preferred tee time by booking now. You can book by signing up on the timesheets now posted on the notice board or you can ring 058-43216. A team of four costs €120 and can be gents, ladies or mixed. There are numerous valuable prizes so avail of your chance to play a round at the club of the year, where you are guaranteed a warm welcome and a round of golf you will definitely enjoy.

South East League

The first round of the south east league takes place at the Gold Coast golf club on Sunday next march 14^th. West Waterford will take on the host club. Please check notice board for further details. Other venues are: West Waterford on March 21^st, Dungarvan on March 27^th and Mitchelstown on April 11^th.
