Ash Wednesday Special
It may have been a day of fast and abstinence but the large crowds playing made the most of the fine weather. The fish chowder went down a treat and is likely to become a regular feature on the menu. Another treat at the moment is the Presidential stove, which is now protected by a senior security guard. It has become the major attraction in the clubhouse during the cold spell with many of the regulars having an extra pint in the comfortable surroundings. Members, friends, and visitors are assured of a warm welcome in a friendly atmosphere at all times.
The Sunshine Golf Classic
It is now only five weeks to the Sunshine Classic, which is to be held at Easter weekend. At this stage all members have been or will be contacted shortly by the group leaders who were appointed at the open meeting held on February 10th. This meeting was very well attended and the support for the classic is as strong as last year. Feedback to date has been excellent in relation to the 25% reduction in entry, bookings fee and re-entry fees are expected to be heavy. Tee time sheets for each of the five days have been posted on the notice board. We would appreciate if all members would encourage other golfers to play in the five-day event. Timesheets for the Classic are currently posted on the notice board. Early booking is recommended if you have a preference for a particular day or time.
Course Notice
Golfers playing in two-balls and three-balls, take precedence over those playing in four-balls on the course at all times, unless otherwise specified. Your cooperation on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Golf Tip
Chipping is a nightmare for most golfers. This is because they concentrate on what they want the ball to do in the course of the stroke instead of what they want the clubhead to do. The physics of golf dictate that if you wish the ball to rise, the clubhead must be descending as it strikes the ball. The instinct is to flick your right hand to the extent that on the follow through the palm of your right hand looks at the sky. Try this: Place a cushion against the wheel of your caddy car. Stand a couple of yards away and hit the ball into the cushion. You are not now concerned about lofting the ball into the air and the clubhead will move along the ground after striking the ball. This will then allow the loft of the club to take affect. The feeling should be a more solid strike. I hope this helps. TW Murphy. E.G.T.F. 086 352 1070
