Christmas Best Wishes

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the management to wish all our members, visitors, sponsors and local newspapers and media all the best for 2008, and thank them all most sincerely for their support during 2007

Winter League 2008 kindly sponsored by Comeragh Oil

Preparations are well underway for the Winter League which following the success of last year’s event is bound to generate huge interest. The League is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 2nd January. All new members are especially welcome to take part and the first step is to contact either Jimmy Murphy on 085-7320907 or Pat Power on 087-6611276, inform the office that they intend to play on a team, or simply place their name and contact number on the list posted in the Clubhouse. All members are asked to keep an eye on the notice boards for current news on the Winter League. Any member not available to participate in the league is urged to place their name on the non-playing list posted in the Clubhouse, or alternatively, contact either Jimmy Murphy on 085-7320907 or Pat Power on 087-6611276 or inform the office that they do not intend to participate in the League. This is necessary so that teams do not end up with a raft of “non-players”.

Names only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee-times

With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this identifies who is actually booked in to play. This facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet. All members are also urged to telephone the office, at the earliest opportunity, if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have previously booked, in the interest of fairness to all. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1st tee.

Junior Notes

The next Junior competition takes place on Wednesday 2nd January at 10am

Subscriptions

Subscriptions for the 2008 season are now due, we would like to thank those who have already paid for their prompt response, and request all members who haven’t paid to please submit the appropriate amount to the office, by post or in person at their earliest convenience.

Dungarvan Golf Triangle

A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2007.

Non Conforming Drivers

From 1 January 2008, a Rule of Golf will be introduced limiting the 'spring-like' effect of driving clubs for all golfers of all ability. The introduction of this Rule was announced in August 2002 and it has been applied at the elite level, via a Condition of Competition, since 1 January 2003

This 'new' Rule will affect the conformance status of some drivers currently in the marketplace and in players' bags. Golfers are, therefore, encouraged to check their own driver, and any driver they may buy in the future, in preparation for 2008.
To help provide correct information on driver head conformance, two Lists have been compiled and published

To view or search the List of Conforming Driver Heads, please click on the link below. www.randa.org/index.cfm?action=rules.equipment.confdrivers

All of the clubs on this List have been ruled to conform to the Rules of Golf and they will continue to conform after 1 January 2008.

To view a list of drivers which will become non-conforming on 1 January 2008 and which are contrary to the Driving Club Condition of Competition, please click on the link below: www.randa.org/index.cfm?action=rules.equipment.nonConfDriversMain

A full list of non-conforming drivers is available in the office.
