Seamus Power
Seamus earned his third A-Sun golfer of the month in November 2007. At the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate ETSU sophomore Seamus erased one of many school records established by recent graduate and three-time first-team all American Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales). With rounds of 65, 66 and 67 his 54-hole total of 198 (-15) was one stroke less than the 14-under 199 that Davies recorded at the 2004-05 NCAA East Regional and set a Buccaneer record for a three-day total en route to winning the individual title at the event.
For his record- setting performance, he earned his third Atlantic Sun Conference golfer of the month award, the conference office announced on Thursday. Seamus's win added to an ever-growing trophy collection. His other individual championship came at Sanctuary Cove in the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship
In the reminder of the month, Seamus fired three additional rounds of par or better. One week after his win, he tied for 22nd at the ETSU- hosted Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges shooting rounds of 72, 71 and 72; he concluded the month by competing at the Isleworth–UCF Collegiate Invitational. Seamus currently ranks third on the ETSU squad with a stroke average of 72.7.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to building winners for life, with a focus on academic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship.
Headquartered in Macon,GA, the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the southeast and consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Gardner-Webb University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina, Upstate and Stetson University.
Names only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee-times
With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this identifies who is actually booked in to play. This facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet. All members are also urged to telephone the office, at the earliest opportunity, if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have previously booked, in the interest of fairness to all. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1st tee.
Dungarvan Golf Triangle
A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2007.
Golf Lessons
T.W Murphy E.G.T.F is available for golf lessons. Timmy can be contacted by ringing 086-3521070 for an appointment.
