Competition Results

Congratulations to Malcolm Ashby who achieved a Hole in One on the 4th hole of the Autumn/Winter Wednesday Open

Singles Matchplay

In the semi-final of the Singles Matchplay competition David Curran beat Sean Kelly and James Cooney beat John Carroll to claim their place in the final of the competition

Congratulations to Jean Conway and Edward Hickey who defeated Bridget Broderick and Morrie Ferncombe in the final of the club Fourball.

 

Junior Matchplay

Congratulations to David Byrne and Gary Hurley who have reached the final of The Ray Spratt Cup. The final will take place next weekend.

 

 

Annual General Meetings

The Annual General Meetings of both the Ladies and the Men’s Club will take place on Wednesday 28th November at 8pm in the Clubhouse.

Monday 12th November to Sunday 18th November - Deise Golf Pass Open Winter Competition, Open 16-hole Stableford, tee-time limitations apply. There will be 5 qualifiers from the weekly competition, (3 members and 2 non-members)

Deise Golf Open

For the week commencing Monday 12th November to Sunday 18th November, West Waterford Golf Club will host the first of their weeks Deise Open qualifier. During that week an Open 16-hole competition will run for the week for both Ladies and Gents, handicap limits 20 for men and 30 for ladies. 3 visitors and 2 members will qualify for the Grand Finals which will take place in April 2008 at a venue and date to be decided. The prize for the overall winner will be 4 green fees and 4 meals from each of the 10 participating Clubs within the Deise Golf Pass scheme. Tee-time limitations apply and not available to pre-booked groups.

 

Names only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee-times

With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this identifies who is actually booked in to play. This facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet. All members are also urged to telephone the office, at the earliest opportunity, if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have previously booked, in the interest of fairness to all. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1st tee.

Captains Golf Day:

On Sunday 18th November Club Captains Joanna and Michael will host their Golf Day. It will take the form of a 9-hole scramble for Ladies and Gents with a shotgun start at 1pm. This will be followed by finger food, entertainment and a presentation of all outstanding prizes including prizes for all Club match-play winners. All members are urged to participate on the day for this most important social get together.

 

South East Senior Alliance

West Waterford Golf and Country Club are delighted to be playing host to the South East Senior Alliance once more on Sunday 25th November. The crème de la crème of the South East will be pitting their wits against the course and we look forward to the visit of Martin O’Mahony and his fellow golfers.

 

Dungarvan Golf Triangle

A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2007.
