Quiz Night

Friday night last saw a huge crowd in the Clubhouse for a quiz night the proceeds of which are going to support the fundraising efforts of staunch and loyal Club member and incoming President for 2008 Bertie Hallahan. Bertie is supporting a team of builders who are going to build houses for people in need in the townships of Cape Town, South Africa under the auspices of the Niall Mellon Township Trust. Bertie would like to thank most sincerely all participants on the night, members, friends, visitors, quiz buffs one and all! He would also like to convey his gratitude to the numerous sponsors who lent their support to the event, and without whose help the event would not have been the tremendous success that ensued.

Names only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee-times

With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this identifies who is actually booked in to play. This facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet. All members are also urged to telephone the office, at the earliest opportunity, if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have previously booked, in the interest of fairness to all. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1^st tee.

Captains’ Golf Day:

On Sunday 18^th November Club Captains Joanna and Michael will host their Golf Day. It will take the form of a 9-hole scramble for Ladies and Gents with a shotgun start at 1pm. This will be followed by finger food, entertainment and a presentation of all outstanding prizes including prizes for all Club match-play winners. All members are urged to participate on the day for this most important social get together.

Annual General Meetings

The Annual General Meetings of both the Ladies and the Men’s Club will take place on Wednesday 28^th November at 8pm in the Clubhouse.

Dungarvan Golf Triangle

A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31^st December 2007.

Deise Golf Pass News

At a recent meeting of the participating Golf Clubs from the Deise Pass Imitative, it was agreed to proceed with a series of Open Winter Competitions. There will be 5 qualifiers each week in each Golf Club (3 members and 2 non-members), which will mean that there will be 100 golfers for the Grand Final which will take place in April, with a precise date and venue to be arranged. West Waterford’s 2 weeks are 12^th November to 18^th November 2007 and 3^rd March to 9^th March 2008.

Dungarvan – 8^th October to 14^th October 2007 and 28^th January to 3^rd February 2008.

Dunmore East – 15^th October to 21^st October 2007 and 4^th to 10^th February 2008, if verified by 10 a.m. Wednesday 5^th September.

Faithleg – 22^nd October to 28^th October 2007 and 11^th February to 17^th February 2008.

Gold Coast – 29^th October to 4^th November 2007 and 18^th February to 24^th February 2008. 

Tramore – 5^th November to 11^th November 2007 and 25^th February to 2^nd March 2008.

West Waterford – 12^th November to 18^th November 2007 and 3^rd March to 9^th March 2008.

Waterford Castle – 19^th November to 25^th November 2007 and 10^th March to 16^th March 2008.

Waterford – 26^th November to 2^nd December 2007 and 17^th March to 23 March 2008.

Williamstown – 3^rd December to 9^th December and 24^th March to 30^th March 2008.

There may be time limitations at some clubs.
