Gents Notes for week ending 19^th August

Presidents Prize 2007 Kindly Presented by Brendan Cullinan

Friday 17^th, Saturday 18^th August and Sunday 19^th August 36 hole Stableford event

The Presidents Prize this year was a very well supported event with members out in force in support of Brendan and to try and capture this much sought after prize in the most prestigious competition in the golfing calendar.

Brendan is a loyal and hard-working Club member, and has achieved many targets during his time in the committee and as President. We thank him and his family for hosting a very successful competition and wish him every success for the remainder of his Presidency at West Waterford.

The presentation of prizes was held on Sunday followed by music and craic.

Brickey Valley Golf Classic

The Brickey Valley Golf Classic takes place on Friday 31^st August and Saturday 1^st September and promises to be a very well supported event. The Classic is priced at €200 per team of four players. It is a team of 4; gents, ladies or mixed, the format is Stableford with 2 scores to count on all holes except the par threes where 3 scores count. Congratulations

Congratulations to Seamus Power who represented Munster at the Inter-provisional Championship recently. Seamus contributed greatly to the team’s success by winning three matches and halved another, well done Seamus. Seamus returns to East Tennessee State University this week after a very successful season at home.

Dungarvan Autumn Pairs Golf Classic

Following on from the success of the Senior Pairs Classic in April and The Dungarvan Golf International last month, the three local clubs now announce details of the Dungarvan Autumn Pairs Classic. This event is open to all golfers, Ladies and Gents, and teams can be Ladies, Gents or mixed. It will be played over West Waterford, Dungarvan and the Gold Coast golf courses and will take place on Monday 24^th, Tuesday 25^th and Wednesday 26^th September. The format will be a two-person rumble, two-person scramble and Fourball Betterball. There are different packages available: for players who just want to enter the cost is €86 per person. There is a reduction on this figure for members of the three local clubs. For players who want to come and stay: 2 nights B&B, 3 rounds of golf and entry is €170. Further details can be obtained from any of the three participating clubs or by phoning the   tournament director at 058 44055.
