Gents Notes for week ending 11th August

Presidents Prize 2007 Presented by Brendan Cullinan.

The timesheet is now posted for the President’s Prize 2007 very kindly presented by Brendan Cullinan. The competition takes place on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th August and will be a 36-hole Stableford event, with the aggregate score over the qualifying round and the final round determining the winner. The top 90 players will qualify to play in the final round on Sunday and these players must play in the time slot allocated to them. The draw for playing partners will take place in the clubhouse on Wednesday 15th of August. The timesheet is now posted in the clubhouse. This most prestigious of competitions is a much sought after prize, so therefore, early booking of your tee-time is essential. Presentation of the President’s Prize will take place in the Clubhouse on Sunday 19th of August at 9.00pm and will be followed by music and craic. All prize winners are asked to be present at the presentation of the prizes. Those playing in the President’s Prize are requested to note that practice on the course, excluding the practice ground, is prohibited during the running of this competition. A new member must be joined West Waterford Golf Club for at least six months and have played three 18-hole competitions, before he would be eligible to win first prize in either the Captain’s or President’s Prize. Brendan is a loyal and hard-working Club member, and has achieved many targets in his tenure as President. I am sure all the members will be out in force to support him. We wish Brendan, his family and friends all the very best for this prestigious weekend at West Waterford.

J.B. Carr Trophy

Our J.B. Carr team under the watchful eye of team manager Tommy Butler traveled to Ennis Golf Club on Thursday last as County Champions to face the home side in the Munster semi-final. Tommy’s charges were well tuned up for proceedings but they had to give best to a superior Ennis outfit on a score-line of 3 matches to 2. Tommy Butler would like to thank all the panelists for their time and efforts throughout the competition and maybe next year they may reach the All Ireland stages of this annual event.
