Fixture Booklet and Website Update
Our fixture booklet for the 2007 is now freely available in the office. All members are urged to pick up a copy in order to make themselves familiar with the up and coming events of what promises to be an extremely busy golfing year at West Waterford Golf and Country Club. The fixtures have also been updated for 2007 on our website www.westwaterfordgolf.com
J.B Carr
Congratulations to our J.B. Carr team who were victorious over Lismore in a tight match at home on Tuesday last. West Waterford now go on to meet Waterford Golf Club in the County Final on Wednesday 12th June at 3pm.
Pierce Purcell Shield
Our Pierce Purcell team had to give best to a strong Waterford Castle outfit in the first round of the event which was played at Gold Coast Golf Club on Thursday last. Commiserations to all the panelists and team management and thank you to Gold Coast Golf Club for their customary welcome and courtesy on the day.
Belvedere Trophy
Our High Handicappers were in action on Tuesday last in the return leg with Faithlegg of the Belvedere Trophy. Unfortunately, West Waterford were carrying an insurmountable deficit from the first leg away from home and Edward Hickey’s charges had to give best to the superior Faithlegg outfit. Commiserations to all the panelists and management and we wish Faithlegg all the very best in the remainder of the competition.
Subscriptions for the 2007 season are now well overdue, and should be paid as soon as possible. We would request that all members who haven’t paid in full to please submit the appropriate amount to the office, by post or in person immediately.
Bank Holiday Weekend Open
Dawn Meats are kindly sponsoring an Open Singles Competition for both Ladies and Gents on the Bank Holiday Weekend Saturday 2nd June, Sunday 3rd June and Bank Holiday Monday 4th June. Timesheets are in operation each day, simply telephone 058-43216 or 058-41475.
Friary Handball Club Building Fund Golf Classic
Timesheets are now filling up quickly for the Friary Handball Golf Classic which takes place this year on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th June. This event was a huge success last year once more and already in excess of 40 teams are booked in for this year’s renewal, so early reservation of your tee-time is essential. The event is a team of four and teams may be all gents, ladies or mixed. Prizes to the value of €3000 are up for grabs and to book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.
Dungarvan Golf Triangle
A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2007.

Deise Golf Pass
This new initiative was launched in Tramore Golf Club on Monday last and is the first of its kind in Ireland. As a full member of the 10 participating Clubs you may avail of golf at any of the Clubs and receive a 25% discount off the published green fee rate (Monday to Friday, terms and conditions apply). This offer is open to full individual members of the participating Clubs which are as follows: Carrick, Dungarvan, Dunmore East, Faithlegg, Gold Coast, Tramore, Waterford, Waterford Castle, West Waterford and Williamstown.
