Congratulations to our Fred Daly team who were victorious over Tramore in a tight match at Dungarvan Golf Club Friday last. Barton Shield
Our Barton Shield team had to give best to a very strong Youghal team in the first round of the Barton Shield played in Mitchelstown Golf Club on Saturday. Well done to Youghal, commiserations to our panelists and management and thank you to Mitchelstown for their courtesy and hospitality on the day.
East Tennessee State University Golf
TEMPE, Ariz. (May 19, 2007) – In one of the most dramatic finishes in ETSU men’s golf history, the Buccaneers spent most of Saturday’s final round at the NCAA West Regional wondering if their tournament score of 25-under-par would be enough to finish in the Top 10 and earn the program’s 16th trip to the NCAA Championships.
The Bucs ultimately finished tied for ninth along with Wake Forest and Oregon State, leaving those three teams to face off in a playoff for the two remaining spots in the NCAAs. The Bucs team of Davies, Findlay, McNamara, Shaw and freshman of the Year - our own Seamus Power posted four birdies to win the playoff outright and join Wake Forest as the final two teams to make the championship field.
The Bucs will now prepare for the NCAA Championships May 30-June 2 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.

Fixture Booklet and Website Update
Our fixture booklet for the 2007 is now freely available in the office. All members are urged to pick up a copy in order to make themselves familiar with the up and coming events of what promises to be an extremely busy golfing year at West Waterford Golf and Country Club. The fixtures have also been updated for 2007 on our website www.westwaterfordgolf.com
Subscriptions for the 2007 season are now well overdue, and should be paid as soon as possible. We would request that all members who haven’t paid in full to please submit the appropriate amount to the office, by post or in person immediately.
Waterford GAA County Board Training Fund Golf Classic
Bookings are now being taken for the Waterford GAA County Board Training Fund Golf Classic which takes place this year on Thursday 24th, Friday 25th and Saturday 26th May. Following the hurlers fantastic success in Thurles last Sunday, support for the Golf Classic is anticipated to be huge to say the least, early reservation of your tee time is essential. Bank Holiday Weekend Open
Dawn Meats are kindly sponsoring an Open Singles Competition for both Ladies and Gents on the Bank Holiday Weekend Saturday 2nd June, Sunday 3rd June and Bank Holiday Monday 4th June. Timesheets are in operation each day, telephone 058-43216 or 058-41475 to book a Tee-time
Friary Handball Club Building Fund Golf Classic
Timesheets are now filling up quickly for the Friary Handball Golf Classic which takes place this year on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th June. This event was a huge success last year once more and already in excess of 40 teams are booked in for this year’s renewal, so early reservation of your tee-time is essential. The event is a team of four and teams may be all gents, ladies or mixed. Prizes to the value of €3000 are up for grabs and to book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.
Dungarvan Golf Triangle
A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2007.

Deise Golf Pass
This new initiative was launched in Tramore Golf Club on Monday last and is the first of its kind in Ireland. As a full member of the 10 participating Clubs you may avail of golf at any of the Clubs and receive a 25% discount off the published green fee rate (Monday to Friday, terms and conditions apply). This offer is open to full individual members of the participating Clubs which are as follows: Carrick, Dungarvan, Dunmore East, Faithlegg, Gold Coast, Tramore, Waterford, Waterford Castle, West Waterford and Williamstown.
