Members are requested to avoid playing in Fourballs at weekends for the duration of the Winter League.

As a means to heighten awareness of the problem of pitch / plug marks and in order to attempt to alleviate this scourge on greens, it has been decided to allocate responsibility for each of the 18 greens for the year 2007 to a Winter League Team’s members. Un-raked bunkers are also an ever present problem and each and every member of each and every team is urged to co-operate with this request, regarding pitch / plug marks and bunkers, the list is as follows:

1st green – Dungarvan & Geraldines: 2nd green – Brickey's: 3rd green – Carriglea:

4th green – Killeagh & Ring: 5th green – Cappagh: 6th green – Abbeyside:

7th green – Carrightwohill: 8th green – Kilrossanty: 9th green – Old Boro & Kilossera

10th green – Sliabh gCua: 11th green – Affane & Spring: 12th green – Ardmore

13th green – Glenbeg & Glenmore: 14th green – Grange: 15th green – Youghal

16th green – Clashmore: 17th green – Old Parish: 18th green – Cappoquin

It has to be stressed that responsibility for repairing the pitch/plug marks and raking bunkers is not only for the duration of the Winter League but also for the 2007 golfing year.

Dungarvan Seniors Pairs Classic:

This competition which was a huge success last year will again be staged at the 3 local courses Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford on Tuesday 10th, Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th April 2007. The competition format is as follows: 2 person rumble, 2 person scramble and Fourball Betterball. The competition fees are as follows: 2 nights B&B, 3 rounds of golf and entry is €142pps, for visitors not availing of accommodation the fee is €67 pp, while members of any of the three host Clubs may enter for €62pp. Last years event was fully subscribed and hopefully the same will apply for this year’s event. Entry forms for this year’s renewal are available at the 3 participating Golf Clubs.

Dungarvan Golf Triangle:

Golf tourism as we all know is now a big business in Ireland and the Dungarvan area is ideally placed to garner its share of this ever-expanding market. A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2007.

Dungarvan Golf International:

Following feedback from previous competitors and extensive discussions between the 3 local golf clubs, the Classic will undergo some changes in date and formats to provide fresh impetus to the event. The 2007 Classic is taking place on the 12th, 13th and 14th June 2007, for information on the event please contact the Tournament Co-coordinator Marie Curran on 058-42870 or 087- 2347918.
