Competition Results:

Friday, Saturday & Sunday 15^th, 16^th & 17^th December – Club competition, 16-hole Stableford.

Open Wednesday Competition 13^th December

All prizes for the Autumn/Winter Open competitions are now available in the office. Open Wednesday Competitions will resume in the spring following the Comeragh Oil sponsored Winter League.

1^st: John O'Donaghue, Tipperary GC (4) - 68. 2^nd: Morrie Ferncombe, WWGC (4) 68.

Best Gross: John Reynolds, Dungarvan GC (scratch) - 71.

3^rd: Joe O'Keeffe, Waterford GC (5) - 68. 2^nd Gross: T.W. Murphy WWGC (scratch) - 73.

4^th: M. Halloran, Callan GC (5) - 69. Back-9: Paul Madigan, Callan GC (3) - 34.

Winter League 2006 kindly sponsored by Comeragh Oil

Preparations are now nearly complete for the League which is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 3^rd January. Teams are now more or less collated so if there are any members still interested in participating in the league they are urged to place their name on the lists posted in the Clubhouse, or alternatively they may contact Pat Power. All new members are especially welcome to take part.

Christmas Fixtures:

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 20^th, 21^st and 22^nd December – WLRfm Lion’s Club Christmas Hamper Appeal

Saturday 23^rd December – 9 hole Scramble, 1pm shotgun start followed by finger food, entertainment and presentation of prizes.

Sunday 24^th December - Club Competition, 16 Holes Stableford

Christmas Day (9AM to 10.30) -9-hole Bottle of Brandy

(9am to 10.30am, kindly sponsored by Management West Waterford Golf Club).

Tuesday 26^th, Wednesday 27^th and Thursday 28^th December - Junior fundraising competition kindly sponsored by Mahers Golf Emporium Cork, 16-hole Stableford

Christmas Present Ideas:

Vouchers may be purchased at the shop in West Waterford Golf Club which may be exchanged for golf merchandise or green fees at West Waterford. Another possible Christmas gift would be the “Dungarvan Golf Triangle Ticket” which offers 3 games of golf playing Monday to Friday at West Waterford, Dungarvan and Gold Coast for €80.

Timesheets:

Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1^st tee. This is important and especially so over the Christmas and the New Year period with increased playing numbers. Timesheets are in operation 20^th to 24^th December inclusive and from 26^th December to 1^st January 2007 inclusive. To book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.

Dungarvan Golf Triangle:

Golf tourism as we all know is now a big business in Ireland and the Dungarvan area is ideally placed to garner its share of this ever-expanding market. A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €80, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value and would make an ideal Christmas present for any keen golfer. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31^st December 2007.

Dungarvan Golf International:

Following feedback from previous competitors and extensive discussions between the 3 local golf clubs, the Classic will undergo some changes in date and formats to provide fresh impetus to the event. The 2007 Classic is taking place on the 12^th, 13^th and 14^th June 2007, for information on the event please contact the Tournament Co-coordinator Marie Curran on 058-42870 or 087- 2347918.
