Open Wednesday Competitions:

Following the very successful Al Eile Stud Open Wednesday qualifiers, we are going to continue with an Open Wednesday competition until further notice. These competitions will be known as Autumn/Winter Open Wednesday competitions. The entry fee for visitors will be €25.00, and for members the entry will be €10.00. Both entry fees include a golfer’s tea. Depending on the number of entries, prizes will be awarded each and every Wednesday. This is hoped to continue these Open Wednesday competitions up to the Christmas period.

Captains’ Golf Day:

On Sunday 12th November Club Captains Mary and Ollie will host their Golf Day. It will take the form of a 9-hole scramble for Ladies and Gents with a shotgun start at 1pm. This will be followed by finger food, entertainment and a presentation of all outstanding prizes including prizes for all Club match-play winners. All members are urged to participate on the day for this most important social get together.

Annual General Meetings:

The Annual General Meetings of both the Ladies and the Men’s Club will take place on Wednesday 29th November at 8pm in the Clubhouse.

Important Rule Change (Brickey River):

Please note that when playing the 2nd, 12th, 14th and 15th holes, the Brickey River and area to the left of, is declared a lateral water hazard and extends to infinity, (Rule 33-2a/11. Stroke indices on holes 1 and 13 on the gent's scorecard have been changed to stroke index 18 and stroke index 17 respectively. All these changes along with other rules are outlined on the newly printed scorecards.

Care of the Course:

Recently, the bane of any green-keeper's life, pitch and plug marks on greens, are becoming more noticeable on the playing surfaces at West Waterford. This problem never goes away permanently, but becomes more noticeable during inclement weather conditions. The course staff work very hard to ensure that the quality of the greens are to the highest standard, testament to this are compliments from numerous visitors to our club on the quality and appearance of our golf course; we urge everyone to contribute to keeping it this way.

Names Only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee times:

With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet, by identifying who is actually booked in to play with whom. All members are also urged to telephone the office if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have booked in the interest of fairness to all.

Golf Lessons:

T.W Murphy E.G.T.F is available for golf lessons. Timmy can be contacted by ringing 086-3521070 for an appointment.
