Club Classic Sponsored by Irish Life:

The annual fundraising Open Club Classic will take place on Sunday 15th October (limited time up to 10am also on Saturday 14th October). This important fundraiser for the Club helps in the running of Club teams and supporting the junior section and all members are urged to bring along two golfers from visiting clubs for this open 3 person event. The Club Classic is being kindly sponsored this year by Irish Life and the Club are very appreciative of their support. Teams of three for the Classic may be gents, ladies or mixed and the entry fee is a very reasonable €60 per team. The format is 1 to count on the first six holes, 2 to count on the next 9 holes and all three to count on 16, 17 and 18. Tee times may be reserved by telephoning West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.

High Handicap Annual Outing:

The Annual High handicap Outing to Water Rock Golf Club has been rescheduled for Bank Holiday Monday 30th October. A new list has been posted on the notice-board in the main hallway (the old list of names is no longer valid). Any person interested in playing on the day is urged to put their name on the list as soon as possible. The tee-time available has been extended, however numbers are still limited and to repeat, only the new list of intending players is valid and up to date.

Open Wednesday Competitions:

Owing to the ongoing success of the Al Eile Stud Open Wednesday qualifiers, we are going to continue with an Open Wednesday competition from Wednesday 25th October onwards. These competitions will be known as Autumn/Winter Open Wednesday competitions and will commence on Wednesday 25th October following the Al Eile Stud Grand Final. The entry fee for visitors will be €25.00, while the member's entry will be €10.00 both of which will include a golfer’s tea... Prizes will be awarded each and every Wednesday and will be dependent on the number of entries. This is hoped to maintain interest and impetus on the Wednesdays up to the Christmas period.

Open Qualifier Grand Final kindly sponsored by Al Eile Stud:

The timesheet for the Grand Final of the Al Eile Stud Open qualifier which takes place on Sunday 22nd October is now available. All qualifiers thus far are urged to telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475 as soon as possible to secure a tee-time for the Grand Final. The timesheet for the Grand Final which is an 18-hole Stableford competition is running from 9.32 am to 1.56pm. The presentation of prizes for the Grand Final and also the individual Wednesday winners will take place on Sunday 22nd in the Clubhouse at 6.15 sharp.

Important Rule Change (Brickey River):

Please note that when playing the 2nd, 12th, 14th and 15th holes, the Brickey River and area to the left of, is declared a lateral water hazard and extends to infinity. (Rule 33-2a/11). This is outlined along with other rules on the new re-print of our scorecard which also carries a change of the indices of holes 1 and 13 on the gents scorecard which are now stroke index 18 and stroke index 17 respectively.

Care of the Course:

It has come to our attention that the scourge of pitch/plug marks on greens, is rearing its ugly head once more, not that it ever goes away permanently, just ask the greenkeeper and his fellow workers. Day in day out the course workers are doing their utmost to ensure the quality of the playing surfaces on the greens and it is soul destroying to be faced with unrepaired greens again. As stated previously, numerous visitors to our club have been complimentary on the quality and appearance of our golf course; please play your part to keep it this way.

Names Only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee times:

With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet, by identifying who is actually booked in to play with whom. All members are also urged to telephone the office if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have booked in the interest of fairness to all.

Golf Lessons:

T.W Murphy E.G.T.F is available for golf lessons. Timmy can be contacted by ringing 086-3521070 for an appointment.
