Dungarvan Pairs Classic
Following on from the success of the Dungarvan Seniors Pairs Classic in April 2006, it was decided to stage a further pair's competition later in the season. The 3 day competition will be held on the 3 local courses, Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford on Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th September 2006. The format of play will be as follows: (A) a 2 person Rumble, (B) a 2 person Scramble, and (C) a Fourball Betterball. It is a team of 2 event and aggregate scores over the three courses will determine the overall winners. There will also be daily prizes. The competition is open to Ladies, Gentleman or Mixed Pairs. A one shot handicap reduction will apply to players playing on their own course (where their handicap is administered). Entry rates to the competition are as follows: 2 nights bed and breakfast accommodation, 3 Lunches and 3 days competition play is €195 per person and for players not wishing to avail of accommodation the rate will be €110 for 3 days competition play and 3 Lunches. The Tournament co-coordinators are delighted to have obtained considerable sponsorship for the event from McGuire's Pub (Ballinroad), Heaven Scent Florists (Ballinroad) and Kia Motors (Waterford) who were represented at the photo shoot and launch of the event in McGuire's recently. The array of prizes is absolutely magnificent and is testament to the aforesaid sponsors and they will be the subject of some competition in late September. Information on the event is available at the 3 participating Clubs with all entry enquiries to be made directly to the Tournament Director on 058-44055.
Names Only on Timesheets and Cancelled Tee times:
With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. With immediate effect +1 or +2 on singles timesheets will be removed. Only individual names will suffice as this facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet, by identifying who is actually booked in to play with whom. All members are also urged to telephone the office if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have booked in the interest of fairness to all.
Club Outing:
Our annual club outing will take place on Saturday 30th September. This year the venue is St Helens Bay Golf Club. Tee off time is 11.30am. Price includes 1 dinner + 1 B&B + 1 round of golf at €100 or 1 dinner + 1 B&B at €55 for the non-golfer. Numbers are limited to 40. A non-refundable deposit of €50 is required to confirm booking. Any queries to Ollie Broderick (058-41775) or Mary Quinlan (052-36186).
