Open Week:

A very successful open week drew to a close on Sunday 30th July and needless to say a huge thank you is the order of the day to the numerous visitors and members who participated and to the sponsors of each competition without whose support the Open Week would not be the event that it is year on year.

Special Prizes for Open Week Competitions included Golfer of the Week (Best 4 cards to count) kindly sponsored this year by “The Corkonians” and this went to the admirably consistent Philip Walsh with a combined total of 166.

Brickey GAA Golf Classic:

Bookings are now being taken and timesheets posted for the BRICKEY GAA GOLF CLASSIC which takes place on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th August. This event promises to be one of the success stories of the 2006 golfing calendar as the main driving force behind the scenes is loyal club member Brian Hilliard who will leave no stone unturned to ensure its success. It is a team of four Stableford and teams may be gents, ladies or mixed and the entry fee is Euro140.00 per team of 4 players. The format is a champagne scramble (no drink involved!) which has proved extremely popular in the past. The format requires each player to tee off, the best drive is then selected and each of the 4 players finishes out the hole from thereon, with the team’s best 2 scores to count on each hole.

Presidents Prize 2006 Kindly Presented by Brendan Cullinan

The timesheet is now posted for the President’s Prize 2006 kindly presented by Brendan Cullinan. The competition takes place on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th August and will be a 36 Hole Stableford event off the white markers. The draw for playing partners and precise playing time takes place in the Clubhouse on Wednesday evening 16th August at 9pm. Brendan is a staunch and hard-working Club member, and has done Trojan work in attempting to carry out numerous Club duties, and I am sure all the members will be out in force to support him. We wish Brendan, his family and friends all the very best for this prestigious weekend at West Waterford.
