Congratulations to Joe Kelly who achieved a hole in one during the course of his round. He recorded this golfing milestone (not his first we believe) with a superb 7 iron shot on the par 3, 4th hole. Well done Joe
Next Spring Open Wednesday competition takes place on Wednesday 29th March.
Due to the inclement weather on Sunday the scheduled round of the south east league was abandoned. Reschedule date will be posted.

Timesheet Notice
Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1st tee.
Timesheets are in operation for all competitions. Please put your name and those playing with you on the timesheet or call the office to book a Tee-time
All members are also urged to telephone the office if they wish to cancel a Tee-time that they have booked in the interest of fairness to all.
Visitors are asked to note that GUI cards are mandatory.

High Handicap
High Handicap competitions recommence on Tuesday 4th April which is a sure sign that the golfing season is well under way. No doubt the hardy annuals will be much in evidence and we would urge any new members to come along and participate in these weekly get-togethers.
The timesheet for our first Wednesday Open which takes place on Wednesday 19th April will be posted shortly. This weekly competition generates huge interest year on year, with this year’s event promising to be the most successful to date. This Open Qualifier is a keystone of the golfing calendar at West Waterford Golf and Country Club and we are delighted to welcome Al Eile Stud and Michael Ryan on board as the new sponsor of this weekly event. Consequently the competition will now be known as the Al Eile Stud Open Qualifier. For each and every Wednesday throughout the summer, there will be a timesheet in operation for the Open Singles and to reserve your tee-time, simply telephone the Clubhouse on 058-43216 or 058-41475. For those lucky enough to qualify will take place this year on Sunday 22nd October, a week in advance of the Bank Holiday weekend. Many thanks to our new sponsors Al Eile Stud.
Scramble, Presentation of Prizes and Club Mixed Foursomes draw
Our first scramble of the season will take place on Friday evening 28th April. It is hoped to have scrambles on a monthly basis for the summer months and all members are urged to try their utmost to play. It is also intended to stage outstanding prize giving following the monthly scrambles in the future.
Junior Scratch Cup
Waterford Crystal is kindly sponsoring the Junior Scratch Cup competition this year. It takes place on Easter Monday 17th April and is an 18-hole Stroke event with handicap range of 5 to 11. The timesheet is filling up quickly for this prestigious event and prompt reservation of your tee-time is advised. To make your reservation please telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions for 2006 should at this stage be paid in full, please remit the appropriate amount by post or to the office in person, immediately.
Our fixture booklet for the 2006 season has now been published and is now available from the office. All members are urged to pick up a copy in order to make themselves familiar with the up and coming events of what promises to be an extremely busy golfing year at West Waterford Golf and Country Club.
Dungarvan Senior Pairs Classic
The inaugural staging of this new event takes place on the 3 local courses, Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th April 2006. The format of play will be as follows: (A) a 2 person Rumble, (B) a 2 person Scramble, and (C) a Fourball Betterball. It is a team of 2 event and aggregate scores over the three courses will determine the overall winners. There will also be daily prizes. The competition is open to Ladies, Gentleman or Mixed Pairs. A one shot handicap reduction will apply to players playing on their own course (where their handicap is administered). Entry rates to the competition are as follows: 2 nights bed and breakfast accommodation, 3 Lunches and 3 days competition play is €155 per person and for players not wishing to avail of accommodation the rate will be €85 for 3 days competition play and 3 Lunches. This prestigious event now in its eighth year takes place from 23rd to the 25th May at our three local courses. The International which is jointly sponsored this year by Michael Ryan and his company Saltan Properties together with Bulmers is a showcase event for golf in the area and brings an influx of visitors to the town and surrounding areas which is of benefit to all. Any member of West Waterford, who brings a team, can avail of a free golf entry. This must be specified at the entry stage and all teams must include at least two visitors. Locker Allocation
The locker fee for 2006 is €15 and should now be paid, any member wishing to forfeit his/her locker is asked to inform the office so that vacant lockers may be made available for hire to members on the waiting list.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Christian Bolte on his marriage to Club Captain Ollie Broderick’s daughter Emma on Saturday. Good luck to them both. No doubt Christian will have to take on board all of Ollie’s golfing tips in the future, so you never know the 2006 Captain’ Prize might remain not too far from the Broderick abode!
