WEST WATERFORD GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
Gents Notes for week ending 18th December 2005
The WLR Lions Club Christmas Hamper Appeal Open Golf Competition kindly sponsored by Ger Enright and Eurospar took place at West Waterford Golf and Country Club on Thursday 15th, Friday 16th and Saturday 17th December. West Waterford Golf Club members and numerous visitors were out in strength to lend their support to this most worthy of causes. The Lions Club expressed their deep gratitude to the Spratt Family for granting the facilities at West Waterford for the three days of the competition and also to Ger Enright and Eurospar for their kind sponsorship at short notice.
The presentation of prizes took place in the clubhouse at West Waterford and Country Club on Saturday Evening 18th December, where a very sizable sum was presented to Lion’s Club representatives for their most worthy of appeals.

Wednesday 4th January to Sunday 8th January 2006 - 16-hole Stableford - Commencement of the Winter League, kindly sponsored by Comeragh Oil.

Christmas Best Wishes
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Committee and Management to wish all our members, visitors, sponsors and local newspapers and media a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2006, and thank them all most sincerely for their support during the year. Special thanks also to Tom Whelan and Aoife and Leanne for their invaluable help with the Golf Notes throughout the year.
Christmas Present Ideas
Vouchers may be purchased at the Club, which may be exchanged for golf merchandise or green fees at West Waterford. Another possible Christmas gift would be the “Dungarvan Golf Triangle Ticket” which offers 3 games of golf playing Monday to Friday at West Waterford, Dungarvan and Gold Coast for EUR75.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions for 2006 fall due on the 1st January 2006 please remit the appropriate amount by post or to the office in person, at your earliest convenience.
Best Wishes
Best wishes from all at West Waterford go to Seamus Power who is now in America preparing for the World Boys Championship, which takes place later this month. It is a great honor for Seamus and the Club to secure an invite to this prestigious tournament and we wish him well in his efforts.
Killeagh GAA Golf Society Outing
On Saturday 10th December Killeagh GAA had a very successful golf society outing at West Waterford. It is worth noting that this was their 12th consecutive Christmas outing to us and we thank them for their continued support. Needless to say Ray Rochford was the organizer in chief and we would like to thank Ray most sincerely once again.
Preparations are well underway for the Winter League which following the success of last year’s event is bound to generate huge interest. The League is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 4th January. Anyone interested in participating is requested to place their name on the list in the Clubhouse. Please keep an eye on the noticeboards, for further news.
Condolences
Our sincere condolences go to esteemed member Brendan Fitzgerald whose brother Gerald passed to his eternal reward in the past week.
Golf Lessons
T.W Murphy E.G.T.F is available for golf lessons. Timmy can be contacted by ringing 086-3521070 for an appointment.
Locker Allocation
The locker fee for 2006 is €15 and is now payable, any member wishing to forfeit his/her locker is asked to inform the office so that vacant lockers may be made available for hire to members on the waiting list.
Timesheet Notice
Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1st tee. This is important and especially so over the Christmas and the New Year period with increased playing numbers. Timesheets are in operation from 21st December to 8th January 2006 inclusive. To book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.
All members are also urged to telephone the office if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have booked in the interest of fairness to all.
