Captains Day at West Waterford
On Sunday last 13th November a Captains’ Golf Day hosted by Alicia and John took the form of a 9-hole scramble for Ladies and Gents. Finger food, entertainment and presentation of all outstanding prizes followed this. The prizes presented included all Club match play winners incorporating the Club Foursomes kindly sponsored by Tom Curran’s Hardware: the Mixed Foursomes kindly sponsored by Paudie Landers (Abbey Autos), the Club Fourball kindly sponsored by Fitzgerald Insurances, the Club Singles kindly sponsored by East Cork Oil and the Golfer of the Year kindly sponsored by Michael Ryan (Saltan Properties).

Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November – Club Competition, 16-hole Stableford.

Names only on Timesheets and cancelled Teetimes
With more limited time available for play and increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. Only individual names will satisfy as this facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet, by identifying who is actually booked in to play with whom. All members are also urged to telephone the office if they wish to cancel a tee time that they have booked in the interest of fairness to all.

Dungarvan Senior Pairs Classic
Following discussions between representatives of the three local clubs a new novel competition for senior players (aged 55 and above) will take place in early April 2006. The 3 day competition will be held on the 3 local courses, Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th April 2006. The format of play will be as follows: (A) a 2 person Rumble, (B) a 2 person Scramble, and (C) a Fourball Betterball. It is a team of 2 event and aggregate scores over the three courses will determine the overall winners. There will also be daily prizes. The competition is open to Ladies, Gentleman or Mixed Pairs. A one-shot handicap reduction will apply to players playing on their own course (where their handicap is administered). Entry rates to the competition are as follows: 2 nights bed and breakfast accommodation, 3 Lunches and 3 days competition play is €155 per person, and for players not wishing to avail of accommodation the rate will be €85 for 3 days competition play and 3 Lunches. Annual General Meetings
The Annual General Meetings of both the Men’s Club and the Ladie’s Club will take place on Wednesday 23rd November at 8pm in the Clubhouse

Junior News
The next Junior Competition will take place on Saturday 26th November at 2pm.

Dungarvan Golf Triangle
Golf tourism as we all know is now a big business in Ireland and the Dungarvan area is ideally placed to garner its share of this ever-expanding market. A major selling point of our three courses, Dungarvan Golf Club, Gold Coast Golf Club and ourselves West Waterford Golf Club is that we are all within 5 minutes drive of Dungarvan town center. The “Dungarvan Golf Triangle” effectively, allows you to purchase a ticket that enables you to play each of the three courses, Monday to Friday for the combined price of €75, and in this era of high green fee rates, this represents good value. ‘The Dungarvan Golf Triangle’ is being advertised through all the usual mediums and is on sale in each of the three golf clubs. Tickets are valid up to 31st December 2006.
