WEST WATERFORD GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB NOTES

Notes for week ending 26th June 2005

SEAMUS POWER, HIS WAY TO IRISH TITLE
In the Irish Youths Championship at Portumna on Friday last, Seamus Power produced a devastating last round of 68 to claim this prestigious title. Seven shots behind entering the final round, Seamus produced a barrage of birdies, but none more important than the birdie 4 on 17 and 2 on 18 to snatch the title by just one shot.
This performance further underlines the talent and the vast potential of the very popular West Waterford youngster. However, celebrations are on hold as Seamus has a host of important engagements coming up; on Monday representing his club in the Munster semi-final of the Junior Foursomes in Mitchelstown, and the Fred Daly semi-finals in Muskerry on Wednesday. Then he represents Ireland in the European Amateur Boys Championship at Monticello Golf Club, Italy July 5th to 9th, then its back to Lahinch for the South of Ireland.
Congratulations to Seamus on his historic win, and continued success in his quest for further glory in the weeks ahead.
