CAPTAINS PRIZE 2005 KINDLY PRESENTED BY John Flynn
During all of last week everyone was keeping an eye out for the weather as we were looking forward to the first and premier ‘major’ of 2005, the Captain’s Prize kindly presented by John Flynn. The qualifying round of 18-hole stroke took place on Friday and Saturday 3rd & 4th June, with the leading 100 qualifiers completing again on Sunday 5th June over another 18 holes. The aggregate score over the qualifying round and the final round determining the winner.

The presentation of prizes took place in the Clubhouse on Sunday night last. Members and friends were out in force to round off an outstanding Captain’s weekend. Grateful thanks to John and Ben Flynn for hosting an excellent competition and a memorable prizegiving evening.

Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June - FRIARY HANDBALL CLUB BUILDING FUND GOLF CLASSIC
Sunday 12th June – Club competition, 18-hole Stableford.
Tuesday 14th June – High Handicap
Wednesday 15th June – FAILTE HOUSE OPEN QUALIFIER, Open 18-hole Stableford.
Time sheets are in operation for all competitions. Please put you’re name and those playing with you on the timesheet to book your for your place on the 1st Tee, alternatively telephone the clubhouse for a Tee-time. Players with their names on the timesheet have priority.

J.B. CARR TROPHY
After an epic struggle on home turf on Monday afternoon, the West Waterford J.B. Carr team won through against the gallant visiting team from Dunmore East. It came down to the pairing of Club Captain John Flynn and Pat Spratt who eventually won their match on the 21st hole, to secure a hard fought victory. Congratulations to all the team and team captain Terry O’Callaghan on their latest victory and we wish them well in the next round against Waterford Golf Club, which takes place away in Waterford G.C. on Monday 20th June at 3pm.

FRIARY HANDBALL CLUB BUILDING FUND GOLF CLASSIC
Timesheets are now filling up quickly for the Friary Handball Golf Classic which takes place this year on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June. This event was a huge success last year and already in excess of 50 teams are booked in, so early reservation of your tee-time is essential. The event is a team of four and teams may be all gents, ladies or mixed. Prizes to the value of €3000 are up for grabs and to book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.

SCRAMBLE
Our second scramble of the year takes place next Friday 10th June following on from the success of the first one. Names and a draw for playing partners takes place at 6.30 p.m. followed by a shotgun start at 7pm. All members are welcome and urged to be out in force.
