COMPETITION RESULTS.

WEEKEND COMPETITION. Friday 11^th March to Sunday 13^th March 18-hole Stableford.

WINTER LEAGUE.

The Final of the winter league competition kindly sponsored by Comeragh Oil was played on Sunday in ideal conditions. The two teams contesting the final were Carrigtwohill and Affane.

From a last position in the League in 2004, Carrightwohill came through this year to win beating Affane decisively.

The match draw was as follows: -

SOUTHEAST LEAGUE.

At Mitchelstown on Sunday, West Waterford beat Fermoy in the latest round of the Southeast league. The team is now in a strong position to qualify from group B: The next round in the competition will be held on Saturday 19^th March. (11:30 AM – 1:00 PM) at Youghal Golf Club.

BRICKEY RANGERS GOLF SOCIETY

Results from the Brickey Rangers golf society competition held at West Waterford on Sunday 13^th March.

Wednesday 23^rd March – 18-hole Stableford, Club Competition. Prizes dependent on entries.

Thursday 24^th, Friday 25^th and Saturday 26^th March – Ballymacarbry Community Golf Classic, team of 4 classic, EUR 140 per team of four.

Sunday 27^th March – Club Competition, 18-hole Stableford.

Bank Holiday Monday 28^th March – Junior Scratch Cup kindly sponsored by Waterford Crystal, timesheet posted, handicap eligibility 5 to 11.

Wednesday 30^th March – 18-hole Stableford, Club Competition. Prizes dependent on entries.

TIMESHEETS

Time sheets apply for all club competitions. Please put up you’re name and those playing with you for your place on the Tee. The practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1^st Tee

PRESENTATION.

On Sunday a presentation was made to T.W. Murphy to mark the occasion of he becoming the first Tour Professional to emanate from the club. We take this opportunity to wish Timmy every success and good fortune on his venture into the world of Professional Golf. We will watch his progress with interest.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Ballymacarbry Community Golf Classic

The Ballymacarbry Community Golf Classic takes place on Thursday 24^th, Friday 25^th and Saturday 26^th March. It is a team of 4 Stableford, gents, ladies or mixed with an entry fee of EUR140 per team and in order to make a reservation please telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475 as timesheets are filling up very quickly.

JUNIOR SCRATCH CUP

Waterford Crystal is kindly sponsoring the Junior Scratch Cup competition this year. It takes place on Easter Monday 28^th March and is an 18-hole Stroke event with handicap range of 5 to 11. The timesheet always fills up very quickly for this prestigious event and prompt reservation of your tee-time is advised. FÁILTE HOUSE OPEN QUALIFIER

The timesheet for our first Wednesday Open which takes place on Wednesday 13^th April will be posted shortly. This weekly competition generates huge interest year on year, with this year’s event promising to be the most successful to date. This Open Qualifier is a keystone of the golfing calendar at West Waterford Golf and Country Club and Fáilte House are delighted to be associated with the event. For each and every Wednesday throughout the summer, there will be a timesheet in operation for the Open Singles and to reserve your tee-time, simply telephone the Clubhouse on 058-43216 or 058-41475. FIXTURE BOOKLETS

Our fixture booklet for the 2005 season is now freely available at the office and all members are urged to pick up a copy in order to make themselves familiar with the up and coming events of what promises to be an extremely busy golfing year at West Waterford Golf and Country Club.

CATERING SERVICE

Martin’s Catering Ltd. took over the catering services in the Clubhouse on 1^st March. We wish Valerie and her team every success for the future, and we would like to take this opportunity to ask members to do their utmost to support them in their efforts.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

As we approach Easter all subscriptions for the 2005 season should now be paid. We request that all members who haven’t paid to please submit the appropriate amount to the office, by post or in person immediately.

LOCKER ALLOCATION

The locker fee for 2005 is EUR 15 and if this fee and any arrears are not paid immediately, the relevant locker will be forfeited and be made available for hire to members on the waiting list.
