WLR fm LION’S CLUB CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL. (Kindly sponsored by Glanbia).

The WLR Lions Club Christmas Hamper Appeal Open Golf Competition kindly sponsored by Glanbia took place at West Waterford Golf and Country Club on Thursday 19^th, Friday 20^th and Saturday 21^st December. West Waterford Golf Club members and numerous visitors were out in strength to lend their support to this most worthy of causes. The Lions Club expressed their deep gratitude to the Spratt Family for granting the facilities at West Waterford for the three days of the competition.

The presentation of prizes took place in the clubhouse at West Waterford Golf and Country Club on Saturday Evening 18^th December.

Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1^st Tee. This is especially appropriate throughout the Christmas and New Year period with increased playing numbers and of course the shorter playing time available.

WINTER LEAGUE 2005 kindly sponsored by Comeragh Oil

Preparations are well underway for the Winter League which following the success of last year’s event is bound to generate huge interest. The League is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 5^th January. Please keep an eye on the notice boards.

Golfing in Spain,

A group of club members have just returned from a golfing holiday in Spain. Club Secretary Maurice Hallihan played excellent golf all through and captured the main prize for the outing. Well done Maurice.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the management to wish all our members, visitors, sponsors and local newspapers and media a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2005, and thank them all most sincerely for their support during the past year.

CARE OF THE COURSE

Repairing of pitch/plug marks on greens is absolutely essential and the replacing of divots on tees and fairways is also very important with regard to care of the course. This is especially important now that the summer and dry conditions are a distant memory. Numerous visitors to our club during the summer months have been complimentary on the quality and appearance of our golf course, please do your level best to keep it this way.
