The annual fundraising Open Club Classic took place over the weekend and as in the past proved to be an important fundraiser which will contribute to the running of Club teams and supporting the junior section. The Club Classic was kindly sponsored this year by Michael Ryan and The Diplomat Bar in Abbeyside and the Club are very appreciative of his support. Michael and his company Saltan Properties also sponsored the Golfer of the Year which was won finally last week by Vice-Captain John Flynn.

ANOTHER PENNANT FOR WEST WATERFORD.

Congratulations to Dr. Terry O'Callaghan and his team in the JB Carr Trophy competition who this year were successful in becoming County Champions in the event. Woodenbridge Golf Club who ran the Competition presented the Pennant.

Friday 15^th and Saturday 16^th October - Club Competition, 18-hole Stableford.

Sunday 17^th October – Failte House Open Grand Final – Timesheet 9.30am – 1.51pm, presentation of prizes, including all Wednesday winners, at 6.15pm sharp in the Clubhouse.

Wednesday 20^th October – Autumn/Winter Open Wednesday competition – 18-hole Stableford.

Time sheets apply for all club competitions. Please put up you’re name and those playing with you for your place on the Tee. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1^st Tee. Call to or contact the office to book a Tee-time.

OPEN QUALIFIER KINDLY SPONSORED BY FAILTE HOUSE (GRAND FINAL)

The timesheet for the Grand Final of the Fáilte House Open which takes place on Sunday 17^th October is now available. All qualifiers thus far have been notified and one and all are urged to telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475as soon as possible to secure a tee-time for the Grand Final. The timesheet for the Grand Final which is an 18-hole Stableford competition, is running from 9.30 am to 1.51pm. The presentation of prizes for the Grand Final will take place on Sunday 17^th in the Clubhouse at 6.15 sharp when all individual Wednesday winners will also have their prizes presented to them.

Open Wednesday Competitions

Owing to the ongoing success of the Failte House Open Wednesday qualifiers, we are going to continue with an Open Wednesday competition from Wednesday 20^th October onwards. These competitions will be known as Autumn/Winter Open Wednesday competitions and will commence on Wednesday 20^th October following the Failte House Grand Final. The entry fee for visitors will be EUR20.00. Prizes will be awarded each and every Wednesday and will be dependent on the number of entries. This is hoped to maintain interest and impetus on the Wednesdays up to Christmas, following the Failte House Grand Final. Further details on these Wednesday competitions will be printed in the notes and posted in the clubhouse in the near future, so watch this space!!!

CLUB SINGLES MATCHPLAY KINDLY SPONSORED BY EAST CORK OIL

The Club singles, which is kindly, sponsored again this year by East Cork Oil is now reaching it’s conclusion and all outstanding matches should be played immediately.

LOYALTY CARD

The Irish Golf Course Owners Association have in place a loyalty card which entitles full members of participating Clubs to avail of a 25% discount on green fees for the cardholder and 3 other golfers at selected courses. The loyalty cards are available from the office at West Waterford Golf and Country Club for a nominal charge and will enable members of West Waterford to enjoy a significant reduction in fees at courses such as: Beaufort, Esker Hills, Glasson, Powerscourt, St Helen’s Bay, Knockanally, Rathsallagh and many more.
