CLUB CLASSIC KINDLY SPONSORED BY THE DIPLOMAT (MICHAEL RYAN)

The annual fundraising Open Club Classic will take place on Sunday 10^th October. This important fundraiser for the Club helps in the running of Club teams and supporting the junior section and all members are urged to bring along two golfers from visiting clubs for this open 3 person event. Michael Ryan and The Diplomat Bar in Abbeyside kindly sponsor the Club Classic this year. The Club are very appreciative of his support especially as Michael and his company Saltan Properties also sponsor the Golfer of the Year for which there are super prizes up for grabs, thanks to his sponsorship. Teams of three for the Classic may be gents, ladies or mixed. The format is 1 to count on the first six holes, 2 to count on the next 9 holes and all three to count on 16, 17 and 18. GOLFER OF THE YEAR.

Sunday 26^th September saw the final round in this year's Golfer of the Year Competition. The Competition was keenly contested throughout the season with most members taking part. When the scores were counted, Vice-Captain John Flynn came through as the clear winner. This is indeed a fitting end to a great competition and the result certainly reinforces John's mandate for the Captaincy in the coming year.

OPEN QUALIFIER KINDLY SPONSORED BY FAILTE HOUSE (GRAND FINAL)

The timesheet for the Grand Final of the Fáilte House Open which takes place on Sunday 17^th October is now available. All qualifiers thus far have been notified and one and all are urged to telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475as soon as possible to secure a tee-time for the Grand Final. The timesheet for the Grand Final which is an 18-hole Stableford competition is running from 9.30 am to 1.51pm. The presentation of prizes for the Grand Final will take place on Sunday 17^th in the Clubhouse at 6.15 sharp when all individual Wednesday winners will also have their prizes presented to them.

CLUB SINGLES MATCHPLAY KINDLY SPONSORED BY EAST CORK OIL

The Club singles which is kindly sponsored again this year by East Cork Oil is now reaching its conclusion and all outstanding matches should be played immediately.

LOYALTY CARD

The Irish Golf Course Owners Association have in place a loyalty card which entitles full members of participating Clubs to avail of a 25% discount on green fees for the cardholder and 3 other golfers at selected courses. The loyalty cards are available from the office at West Waterford Golf and Country Club for a nominal charge and will enable members of West Waterford to enjoy a significant reduction in fees at courses such as: Beaufort, Esker Hills, Glasson, Powerscourt, St Helen’s Bay, Knockanally, Rathsallagh and many more.
