COMPETITION RESULTS.

Friday 10^th, Saturday 11^th & Sunday 12^th September, Club competition, 18-hole Stableford.

1^st: Karl Kiely (13) 43pts. 2^nd: Malcolm Garde (19) 42pts. Gross: Garry Bell (10) 26pts.

3^rd: Michael Stack (21) 37pts. CSS. 37

CLUB FOURBALL SPONSORED BY FITZGERALD INSURANCES

The final of the Club Fourball was played out during the week with finalists John Keane and Paudie O’ Mahoney versus Ben Price and Noel Murray.

Congratulations to Ben and Noel who came through to win in a very close competition. Commiseration's to John and Paudie who put up a great fight. Well done also to all that took part throughout the competition and many thanks to Fitzgerald Insurance's for their support and sponsorship.

CLUB MIXED FOURSOMES KINDLY SPONSORED BY PAT LANDERS (ABBEY AUTOS)

The Club Mixed Foursomes was down for decision between Edward Hickey and Joan Sheehan and Michael Landers and Joan Curran on Wednesday last in what promised to be a pulsating encounter and it didn’t disappoint. Michael and Joan were installed as slight favorites but it transpired that Edward Hickey and Joan Sheehan were not informed! Michael and Joan blasted from the traps to take a 5 hole advantage at the halfway stage but the major turning point proved to be the 14^th hole where Joan Sheehan conjured up a super chip which went straight into the hole with the opposition nicely poised on the green. On the 18^th tee it seemed as if Michael and Joan Curran were not going to be denied as it was all square and they were in receipt of a shot but it was not to be and Edward and Joan secured a famous victory on the 18^th green. Edward has now gone a well-earned holiday to celebrate his victory. It was a fitting end to a marvelous competition and we would like to sincerely thank Pat Landers of Abbey Autos for his generous support and sponsorship.

The Brickey Golf Society had their Captain’s Day (Paul Flynn) in Thurles Golf Club and as is customary the turnout was large despite the somewhat inclement weather conditions.

INTERMEDIATE SCRATCH CUP

The timesheet is now practically full for our Intermediate Scratch Cup, which is kindly, sponsored by Jim Quinn, Agri Supplies, Dungarvan. It takes place on Sunday 19^th September and is an 18-hole stroke event with a handicap range of 12 to 18. There are limited times available on the timesheet at this stage. CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Dungarvan Golf Club Secretary/Manager Irene Howell on her recent marriage to Tom. Irene is steering the ship at Dungarvan for a number of years and is an invaluable member of the Dungarvan Golf International Committee. We wish both Irene and Tom all the best on their honeymoon and in the years to come.
