OPEN WEEK COMES TO A CLOSE.

Sunday saw the end of a very full and successful Open Week at West Waterford Golf Club with the well-attended presentation of the last day's prizes in the Clubhouse. Our Club President John Murphy and our lady and gents Captains, Rena McDonnell and Michael Walsh expertly hosted the event. We would like to thank all of our Sponsors for the week, wish them success in their businesses and look forward to future association with them.

This is the only competition where the prize may or may not be claimed during the week however on this years Open there were two Holes-in-One on the last day, both within an hour of each other on different holes. Michael Stack claimed the first ace on the 4^th with a 4-iron. Paul Coffey (Tramore) had got his hole-in-one at the 13^th:

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Séamus Power on gaining his place on the Irish Boys Team for Home Internationals due to be played at Portmarnock Golf Club next week. Seamus has been very successful so far this year, coming 5^th in the Munster Boys recently and coming 3^rd: in the Leinster Boys at Arklow last week. He also won all of his matches for West Waterford in the Senior Cup competition. We wish Seamus well and hope his success continues.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Waterford Ladies Football Golf Classic.

The Waterford Ladies Football Golf Classic takes place on Thursday 29^th, Friday 30^th and Saturday 31^st July and once more it promises to be a very well supported event. It is a team of 4 Stableford competition. To make a reservation please telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.

J.B. CARR TROPHY

Our J.B. Carr team managed by Dr. Terry O’ Callaghan will play Charleville in the next section of this competition. This match will be played at Charleville Golf Club on the 30^th July. A practice has been arranged for Monday 26^th July in Charleville G.C. We wish Terry and all the panelists the very best of luck in the next round.

AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY OPEN SINGLES KINDLY SPONSORED BY ULSTER BANK

There will be an Open Singles Competition with separate prizes for ladies and gents on Sunday 1^st and Bank Holiday Monday 2^nd August. SELF HELP GROW FUND

The Self-Help Grow Fund Charity Open Fourball takes place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 5^th, 6^th, and 7^th August. This Charity Fourball event which is an annual event is the brainchild of Justin Spratt and all the members are urged to support this most worthy of causes. Timesheets are posted for each day and reservations may be made by telephoning 058-43216 or 058-41475.

TIMESHEETS

Time sheets apply for all club competitions. Please put up you’re name and those playing with you for your place on the Tee. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1^st Tee.

Owing to increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. Only individual names will suffice as this facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet, by identifying who is actually booked in to play with whom.
