SEAMUS POWER IN FINE FORM AT LIMERICK

Seamus Power continued with his fine run of form during the Munster Boys Amateur Championship played in Limerick Golf Club last week. He shot a new course record of 67 to lead the field after the first round and consolidated his quest for honors with a steady 72 to lie tied second, 1 shot behind going into the third round. While playing in the last group for the third round, Seamus faltered somewhat to slip to a 76, but he came back strongly to shoot 71 in the final round securing a very creditable 5th placing. The title was won by Aaron O’Callaghan from Douglas Golf Club who shot a very impressive 10 under par for the four rounds.

SENIOR CUP

Our Senior Cup team was in action on Saturday last in Youghal Golf Club. In the morning they faced tough opposition against a strong Faithlegg team. At the half way stage Mark Shanahan, Seamus Power and Liam Butler were up in their matches while T.W. Murphy was level in his match and John Dunphy was down in his match. But in the end it was the West Waterford team who emerged with the victory on a scoreline of 4 to 1.

On Sunday 18th the competition continued with our team winning against Dungarvan in the morning match. In the final on Sunday afternoon we faced the Tramore team. The match was anybody's down to the last few holes, however Tramore claimed the victory in the end with a score of 3.1/2 to 1.1/2

We offer our congratulations to the Tramore team and thanks to Youghal Golf Club for their hospitality.

Well done to Team Manager Jimmy Murphy and team members, Seamus Power, Mark Shanahan, Liam Butler, John Dunphy T.W. Murphy and Austin Spratt.

TIMESHEETS

Time sheets apply for all club competitions. Please put up you’re name and those playing with you for your place on the Tee. Please remember: Players with their names on the timesheet have priority on the 1st Tee.

Owing to increased playing numbers, the practice of putting down a name +1 or +2 is no longer acceptable. Only individual names will suffice as this facilitates the smooth running of the timesheet, by identifying who is actually booked in to play with whom.
