WEST WATERFORD GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB NOTES
Notes for week ending 13th June 2004
SHANAHAN SETS RECORD IN RACE FOR CLOSE TITLE GLORY
Mark shot a sizzling 70 that’s three under par and set a new course record in the first round of the Irish Close Championships held in Donegal Golf Club. Mark’s second day's play faltered a bit with an 11 over par round for a total of 154 but still made the cut for the last 64 matchplay. Also well done to fellow member Liam Butler who shot two 77 rounds for a total of 154 and also making the cut to the final 64 players.
FRIARY HANDBALL CLUB BUILDING FUND GOLF CLASSIC
The Friary Handball Golf Classic took place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last and was again a huge success. The continued support of golfers is appreciated greatly by the organizing Committee who put in another Trojan effort to ensure the event’s success. The ongoing fundraising is necessary in order to clear the outstanding debt on the championship alley and related facilities.
