CAPTAINS PRIZE 2004 KINDLY PRESENTED BY MICHAEL WALSH

Following hard on the heels of the eighth year of the Dungarvan Golf International which showcases golf in the area, there is an air of anticipation at West Waterford Golf and Country Club as we look forward to the first and premier ‘major’ of 2004. The timesheets are now posted for the Captain’s Prize which this year will be presented by Michael Walsh. The qualifying round of 18-hole stroke takes place on Saturday 5th June and Sunday 6th June, the qualifying rounds to be played from the white markers. The leading 100 qualifers will complete on Bank Holiday Monday 7th June over another 18 holes stroke off the blue markers, with the aggregate score over the qualifying round and the final round determining the winner. The draw for playing partners and precise playing time takes place in the Clubhouse on Thursday evening 3rd June at 8pm. Michael is a staunch and hard-working Club member, and has done Trojan work in attempting to carry out numerous Club duties in his own inimitable way, and I am sure all the members will be out in force to support him. We wish Michael and Lena all the very best for this prestigious weekend at West Waterford Golf and Country Club. The presentation of prizes will take place in the Clubhouse on Bank Holiday Monday night and all members and friends are welcome for what promises to be a memorable night to round off the Captain’s weekend.

FRIARY HANDBALL CLUB BUILDING FUND GOLF CLASSIC

Timesheets are now filling up quickly for the Friary Handball Golf Classic which takes place this year on Thursday 10th, Friday 11th and Saturday 12th June. This event was a huge success last year and already in excess of 60 teams are booked to play, so early reservation of your tee-time is essential. The continued support of golfers is appreciated in order to clear the outstanding debt on the championship alley and related facilities. The event is a team of four and teams may be all gents, ladies or mixed with an entry fee of EUR 130 per team. Prizes to the value of €3000 are up for grabs and to book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.

SCRAMBLE, PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

The next Friday evening Scramble will take place on Friday evening 11th June. It is hoped to have scrambles on a monthly basis for the summer months on the first Friday of each month and all members are urged to try their utmost to play. A presentation of all outstanding prizes will take place on that Friday night also, and it is intended to stage out standing prize giving following the monthly scrambles in the future.
