FAILTE HOUSE OPEN QUALIFIER.

Our first Wednesday Open will take place on Wednesday 5th May. This weekly competition generates huge interest year on year, with this year’s event promising to be the most successful to date. This Open Qualifier is a keystone of the golfing calendar at West Waterford Golf and Country Club and Fáilte House are delighted to be associated with the event. THE WALTER RALEIGH THREE BROTHERS CLASSIC

The Walter Raleigh 3 Brothers Classic of 2004 takes place at West Waterford Golf and Country Club on Friday 7th May. This prestigious and unique event sponsored by Guinness Group Sales is now in its eighth year and generates huge interest. Its success is testament to the hard work, which has been put into it down through the years by well known Youghal golfer Jim Furey, and the Murphy family from the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal. The groups of three brothers play 18 Holes in West Waterford on Friday and 18 Holes in Youghal GC on Saturday with all participants getting together in the Walter Raleigh on Saturday Night for the presentation banquet. Entries at the time of going to press stand at 53 teams and for any information on the event please contact the tournament director Mr. Jim Furey on 086-8355086.

SCRAMBLE, PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

Our first scramble of the season will take place on Friday evening 7th May and I would urge members one and all to be out in force on the night as these Scramble and Presentation evenings are very important golfing and social get togethers. It is hoped to have scrambles on a monthly basis for the summer months on the first Friday of each month and all members are urged to try their utmost to play. A presentation of all outstanding prizes will take place on Friday night after the Scramble competition. It is intended to hold outstanding prizegiving following the monthly scrambles in the future.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Subscriptions for the 2004 season should all now be paid in full; all persons who haven’t as of yet paid in full are requested to submit the appropriate amount to the office, by post or in person immediately.

CARE OF THE COURSE

Repairing of pitch/plug marks on greens, replacing of divots on tees and fairways and raking bunkers are all-important aspects of care of the course. Numerous visitors to our club in recent months have been complimentary on the quality and appearance of our golf course, please do your level best to keep it this way.

FIXTURE BOOKLETS

Our fixture booklet for the 2004 season is now available in the club office. All members are urged to pick up a copy in order to make themselves familiar with the up-coming events of what promises to be an extremely busy golfing year at West Waterford Golf and Country Club.
