Friary handball Club Building Fund Golf Classic
The Friary Handball Golf Classic was once more a huge success due in no small part to the efforts of Brother Spring and his hard-working Committee. Golfers from near and far enjoyed the good weather and excellent course conditions over the 2 days and all at West Waterford wish the Friary handball Club continued success in the future.

Pierce Purcell Shield
All roads led to Tramore Golf Club on Thursday last for the Area Final (Munster Quarter- Final) of the Pierce Purcell Shield against Thurles, but try as they might we had to give best to our counterparts from Tipperary who we wish well for the remainder of the competition. Well done to all the panelists and Team Manager Lanson Kelly for all their time and efforts.
East Cork Senior/Junior Challenge
The final of the above competition between our near neighbors Dungarvan and Gold Coast Golf Clubs took place on Sunday last with Dungarvan emerging as the outright winners after a tense battle. The final result Dungarvan 2½ and Gold Coast 1½ after a tense battle.

This prestigious event now in its 10th takes place from 10th to the 12th June at our three local courses. Final meetings of the International Committee have been taking place and all the finishing touches and fine tuning required ensuring continued success of the event are being put in place. The International is a showcase event for golf in the area and brings an influx of visitors to the town and surrounding areas which is of benefit to all. The launch of the 2008 Classic is taking place together with an information meeting on Monday evening 9th at 9.pm in the Gold Coast Golf Hotel. Members of the three local clubs are welcome at the nightly entertainment which is taking place at the Park Hotel and Clonea Strand Hotel. The first tee reserved at West Waterford on Tuesday 10th from 8.30am to 3pm. For any further information please contact the Tournament Co-Coordinator on 058-42870 or 087-2347918.
Junior Notes
Junior Competitions recommence for the season on Tuesday 17th June. 10am start. Best wishes from Management, Junior Officers and all the juniors go to Darragh O’Riordan for a speedy recovery from his recent bout of illness. All hope to see him back on the fairways soon.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Justin Spratt on winning the Christy Ring Memorial Trophy played in Glasson on Saturday with a fine score of 45pts.
Well done also to An Rinn on winning Comórtas na Gaeltachta, especially to the Breathnach Family and Darach Breathnach who took part in this competition.
