Seamus Power

Seamus Power Playing on the East Tennessee State University Golf Buccaneers team (ETSU Bucs) continues his good form. In the recent NCAA East Region Final, Seamus carded three sub-par rounds of 71, 68 and 69 bringing himself well up the individual leader-board. His efforts helped his team to eight overall earning them a place in the National Final which will be held on May 28^th to 31^st in West Lafayette Indiana.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions for the 2008 season are now well overdue, and we request that all members who haven’t paid to please submit the appropriate amount to the office, by post or in person immediately.

Fixtures Booklet

Our fixture booklet for the 2008 is now freely available in the office. All members are urged to pick up a copy, as soon as possible, and make themselves familiar with the up and coming events as we look forward to another busy year at West Waterford Golf and Country Club. The fixtures have also been updated for 2008 on our website www.westwaterfordgolf.com

Friary handball Club Building Fund Golf Classic

Timesheets are now posted for the Friary Handball Golf Classic which takes place this year on Friday 6^th and Saturday 7^th June. This event was a huge success last year, so early reservation of your tee-time is essential. The event is a team of four and teams may be all gents, ladies or mixed. Prizes to the value of €3000 are up for grabs and to book a tee-time simply telephone West Waterford on 058-43216 or 058-41475.

Barton Shield

Our Barton Shield team was in action on Saturday, but despite their best efforts they were unable to overcome a strong Carrick-on-Suir Golf Club side. Thank you to all the panelists and team manager Austin Spratt for their efforts and to Dungarvan Golf Club for their hospitality on the day.

Hole - In - One Recognition

The club is launching a plaque which will display the names of members who have scored a hole in one during a competition on the course, since the Club’s inception. If you have had a hole-in-one in the past and would like to be added to the board - please put your name on the list posted on the notice board or alternatively, notify the Club Captain, Malcom Ashby on 058-52900 or 086-1022750 before 1 June.

Handicap Rules Changes

CONGU have recently altered the standard handicap rules, in particular the frequency of player handicap updates, effective as of 1/1/2008.
